"The 140th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen" Special Stamps Issuing Ceremony

Hongkong Post issued today (November 12, 2006) "The 140th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen" Special Stamps. The set of four stamps is issued to commemorate the 140th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Sun Yat-sen (1866-1925) who led China into a new epoch. At a ceremony held in the morning at the University of Hong Kong, Professor Tsui Lap-chee, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hong Kong, and Mr. Tam Wing-pong, Postmaster General, officiated the issuing ceremony by unveiling the new stamps. As a memento of the occasion, Mr. Tam presented to Professor Tsui and Mr. Alan Chan, designer of these special stamps, framed stamps and first day covers.
