Special Stamp Issue - "Hong Kong Butterflies II" (14 June 2007)

A special stamp issue with the theme of "Hong Kong Butterflies II" would be released on June 14, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (May 21). Associated stamp products will also be on sale as from the same date.

The "Hong Kong Butterflies II" issue, comprises five stamps featuring five species of butterflies that can be found in Hong Kong -"Faunis eumeus" ($1.40), "Prioneris philonome" ($1.80), "Polyura nepenthes" ($2.40), "Tajuria maculata" ($3) and "Acraea issoria" ($5). This set of stamps, printed in stochastic lithography, captures the beauty of butterflies from different families and depicts the adults perching on their host plants (caterpillar food plants).

Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be put on sale at all post offices as from Wednesday (May 23). The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices as from the same date. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from May 23 to 30.
